No doubt, the economic upsurge had an important part in the Capital's dynamic urban development. But, in this while, a quite remarkable generation of architects was formed and worked. The reputed professionals of the century's beginning - Petre Antonescu, Nicolae Ghica Budesti, Grigore Cerchez, Statie Ciortan - were joined by the new generation: Horia Creanga, Duiliu March, Octav Doicescu, G.M.Cantacuzino, Marcel Iancu, to name only the best known of them. They enjoyed the confidence of the political class and of the business quarters, they got the investors' orders, they were sustained by the solidarity of the cultural quarters.
